Museo de Caceres
Situated within the seminary is the Museo del Seminario Conciliar de Nueva Caceres, an ecclesiastical repository housing a diverse array of artifacts from the Archdiocese of Nueva Caceres. Its Archaeological section preserves relics dating back to Bicol’s precolonial era, offering insights into the region’s rich heritage. The Art section showcases a collection of esteemed artworks, including pieces by renowned colonial-era painter Mariano Asuncion and local artists Juan & Jose Camacho, commissioned by the church to create portraits of bishops, popes, and religious icons. Additionally, the museum highlights the Bicol Archaeological Project (BAP), a collaborative effort uncovering indigenous narratives overshadowed by colonial history. Focusing on historic churches like those in Quipayo, Camaligan, and Bombon, the project sheds light on the region’s cultural evolution and societal resilience. This endeavor empowers us to embrace our collective identity and heritage, bridging past and present through understanding and appreciation.
The Museo de Caceres is open from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
